-This is the second time that the Center has sought a report from the State on Darjeeling.
The Centre has sought another report from the West Bengal government on the ongoing Darjeeling violence as the State government has asked for the withdrawal of women CRPF personnel among other measures.
The State government also asked the Home Ministry to replace the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans.
The Home Ministry said that the request was “inappropriate and incongruous.”
The Ministry asked the West Bengal government to send a detailed factual report on the law and order situation in Darjeeling, which has seen violence for nearly 20 days.
This is the second time that the Centre has sought a report from the State on Darjeeling.
The communication was sent after the West Bengal government asked the Ministry to recall 100 women personnel of the CRPF deployed in Darjeeling.
The women personnel were rushed there after the outbreak of violence in the hill district as per the request of the State government, said a spokesperson.
The State government also requested the Ministry to recall around 300 SSB men and replace them with CRPF personnel.
