Bharat Bandh: Mamata Banerjee leads massive protest in Kolkata, Congress takes to the streets in Mumbai
-Bharat Bandh called by the united Opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation drive has drawn mixed response. The shutdown has crippled normal life across several states.
New Delhi, November 28: After week-long disruption in the Parliament over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, the Opposition has declared a Bharat Bandh today.

Opposition parties have been trying hard to corner the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation policy. But it seems that the leaders of the Opposition are not on one opinion over their call for Bharat Bandh.
Accusing the BJP of spreading misinformation, the Congress, however, on Sunday said it has not called for a Bharat Bandh or a countrywide shutdown today but 'Jan Aakrosh Diwas' to hold protests over demonetisation.
NO BANDH, ONLY PROTEST: CONGRESS
"There will be protest rallies; we have not called for a Bharat Bandh (shutdown). Misinformation has been spread by the BJP which is ill-informed," said senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party has spread the misinformation that the Congress and other opposition parties have called for a bandh. The country is already shut from November 9, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation move. That's why we don't want a 'Bharat Bandh'," he added.
GOVERNMENT WORKING HARD TO END CORRUPTION
Addressing a rally in Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, PM Modi said while he had called for an end to corruption and black money, the opposition was rooting for the Bharat Bandh.
"The government is working to end the flow of black money and corruption but they (opposition) are talking about Bharat Bandh," Modi said.

Mamata Vows to Remove PM Narendra Modi From Politics
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her Jan Aakrosh rally in Kolkata and said that she will ensure his ouster from politics over demonetisation that is causing several problems for the poor.

"I will remove PM Modi from politics," thundered Banerjee in front of a huge crowd of people who had come out in support of TMC's rally.
Banerjee also demanded an immediate rollback of the demonetisation scheme and chanted 'Modi sarkar Hai Hai' slogans.
